Welcome Message
Welcome to ICMAT 2025!
The Materials Research Society Singapore (MRS-S) has organised the biennial International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies (ICMAT) series since 2001. This event, that routinely attracts 2000+ delegates, has proven to be an outstanding forum for connecting a rapidly expanding cohort of regional researchers with peers from around the world.
ICMAT 2025 will be the 12th iteration of the event to be held in Singapore, a country and city that embodies the energy and aspirations of South-East Asia, and where the impact of materials science, energy and technology permeates the economic success of the nation.
The 11 ICMAT conferences have attracted more than 25,000 participants, including 28 Nobel Laureates, hundreds of distinguished plenary & keynote speakers, and thousands of invited speakers. Most pleasingly more than half the delegates have been graduate scholars and early career researchers who were given the opportunity to learn from leaders in the field and sometimes, been given a first opportunity to present their own work.
The upcoming conference anticipates the participation of 2,500 delegates, comprises of 22 technical symposia with 27 parallel session, plenary and theme lectures, special activities, exhibition as well as keynote, invited, oral and poster presentations.
The programme will also incorporate the 14th Joint Asian Meeting on Ferroelectrics and Electroceramics (AMF-AMEC-14).
ICMAT 2025 is the premier scientific platform to present research to an interdisciplinary and international audience. It provides a window on the future of materials science and offers an opportunity for researchers share expertise, exchange technical information and network with colleagues.
We welcome you to join us at ICMAT 2025!
B.V.R. Chowdari (MRS-S)
Co-Chair ICMAT 2025
B.V.R. Chowdari (MRS-S)
Co-Chair ICMAT 2025
Prof. Chowdari is the elected Fellow of the 2022 Singapore National Academy of Sciences (SNAS), and 2023 Foreign Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences India (NASI).
He was conferred the titles of Honorary Fellow, Andhra Pradesh Academy of Sciences; Honorary Advisor, Government of Andhra Pradesh, India; “Officer in the Order of Academic Palms” by the French Government; “Event Ambassador 2010” by the Singapore Tourism Board, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore. He was also a recipient of the Long Service Medal from the President of Singapore in 2008, Outstanding Science Entrepreneur 2009 Award by NUS, and Cadi Scientific Medal and Prize by the Institute of Physics Singapore in 2015 for his outstanding contributions to Physics education and creating Physics awareness in Singapore.
He has served as President of the Materials Research Society of Singapore (MRS-S), the International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS), and the Asian Society for Solid State Ionics. He is also a Member of the International Council for Science (ICSU) and was Chairman of the 15th Asian Physics Olympiad, Singapore.
Some of the appointments he currently holds include Senior Executive Director and President Emeritus of Materials Research Society of Singapore (MRS-S); President Emeritus of Asian Society for Solid State Ionics; Academician and Vice-President of Asia Pacific Academy of Materials, and Senior Executive Director (Strategic India and Initiatives)” at the Office of the Provost, National University of Singapore. Currently he is the Adjunct Professor, Materials Science and Engineering, NUS and NTU.
The “India Connect initiative” which Prof. Chowdari has conceptualized and led it at both NUS and NTU has greatly helped both the universities in attracting talent from India and strengthened the relations between Indian Government and Singapore Government.
Prof Chowdari established a first-of-its-kind laboratory in NUS and the region, for the synthesis and characterization of materials for potential applications in solid state batteries. The laboratory is instrumental in developing several research groups. His current research interests lie in the developing methods of materials synthesis and their advanced characterisation, and finding applications in energy storage devices, particularly lithium-Ion batteries. To-date, he has published >425 papers in international reputed journals, edited >25 conference proceedings, and has obtained >25,600 citations with h-index of 86. In 2018, he was named one of the “2018 Highly Cited Researchers” by Clarivate Analytics. More recently, he is recognized as “2022 Highly Ranked Researcher” by ScholarGPS for being in the top 0.05% of the researchers in Materials Science and Engineering discipline ranked worldwide. Prof. Chowdari was the Chairman of the first 12 editions of the biennial iconic “International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technology (ICMAT)” series always held in Singapore since 2001, and several national and international conferences.
